ACOUSTIC TESTING WITHIN GYMS

TVS Acoustics has a long and well established relationship with many of the UK’s best-known and respected acoustic and structural consultants. As a specialist provider of acoustic materials and systems, we find ourselves working side by side with consultants when it comes to testing and evaluating which materials or systems are required for any particular noise-sensitive facility.

TVS commonly provides free samples for consultants to test and advises on potential floor build-ups, including final floor finishes, so that the facility not only achieves the desired acoustic attenuation, but also delivers the correct floor finish and support needed for the activity planned.

“Different combinations of underlays return different results and every building structure varies.”

In most cases, acoustic consultants can conduct simple drop tests with dumb-bell weights onto a variety of rubber SPORTEC floor finishes and high performance TVS acoustic underlays. Different combinations of underlays return different results and every building structure varies, so it’s important to conduct tests in every new noise-sensitive facility.

However, rubber-resilient underlay materials have their limitations and in certain cases it‘s simply not possible to achieve the desired attenuation. This is where consultants look towards acoustic floating floor build-ups, which again should be tested with the correct floor finish for the activity planned.

TVS can supply test samples of our TVS RESi Concrete and TVS RESi Dry floating floors to help give consultants reassurance concerning their performance and suitability.
